Royal Seal of Approval for Johnsons Workwear Training
We were honoured when we received official notification on the 15th August that our Learning and Development team has been awarded with the Princess Royal Training 2019 Award for their work with the Johnsons Academy, following a rigorous assessment process. Patricia Stringfellow MBE, Chair of the Princess Royal Training Awards Commission, also commented: ‘[…] you are truly an exemplar of training and learning best practice’.
These awards celebrate outstanding and innovative training and skills development programmes. This year Johnsons Workwear has been recognised alongside just 47 other UK businesses that have demonstrated exceptional benefits from training on company performance and a commitment to investing in their people.
Our Academy was created to give staff, selected through a robust nomination and application process, the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge and build their internal networks, alongside live project work on real business issues. Its success, to date, has been clear, with the confidence and skill of the employees involved increasing considerably over a 12 month period and over 70% of Academy members promoted to a new position within our business over an 18 month period.
Helen Wood, our Managing Director, commented: “I’d like to congratulate our Learning and Development team for their outstanding work and this well-deserved recognition. This highlights how our training is strategically designed to develop people’s careers and nurture the talent we have in Johnsons Workwear. It is central to our recruitment and retention, and puts learning and development right at the heart of our company goals and growth plans.”
The Princess Royal Training Awards, now in their fourth year, will be presented to representatives of Johnsons Workwear and other successful businesses, ranging from multinationals to charities, in October at St James Palace in London. Watch out for further news.
