Lee Sharlotte - International Men's Day
For International men's day, we wanted to shine a light on some of the amazing men that work for Johnsons Workwear and find out a little more about them.
This year we would like to talk more about men’s mental health and encourage the men in our lives to #talkmore.
Let’s hear from Lee Sharlotte who is a General Manager at our Hull Plant.
Talk us through an average day in your life
Get up at 5.15 Monday to Friday to exercise for 1/2 an Hour on my Peloton Bike. Arrive at work 7am and at around 8am walk around the whole plant and talk to all the staff. Work very hard until 5pm, then I go home and then exercise for another 45 minutes, shower then tea. I settle down at around 7.30pm and spend the rest of the evening having quality time with my wife.
What did you want to be when you were younger?
I wanted to be Elvis Presley!
What do you think are some of the biggest challenges facing young boys and men today?
Social media and setting expectation too high.
How do you look after your mental health?
I keep fit and I have always been able to switch off and not let things worry me too much. I feel I am very lucky having such a wonderful wife, a very supportive family and work colleagues.
What advice would you give your younger self?
Live life to the fullest, as you never know what awaits you or people close to you. Make every day count, which is very hard to do, as we same to waste most days during the week, and just look forward to the weekend.
What changes would you like to see in the future for men and their mental health?
Making people more aware that men do struggle with mental health, and that men have the confidence to talk to someone during difficult times.
What is your proudest achievement?
Having a wonderful life.
